Brisbane Roar news: John Aloisi must be brave and stick with Jamie Young in goal
BRISBANE Roar coach John Aloisi take note: He may not be your number one choice, but there are good reasons why this man deserves to keep the goalkeeper’s jersey.
GOALKEEPER Jamie Young must retain his spot in Brisbane Roar’s starting 11 this weekend despite the availability of Michael Theo.

As good as Theo has been in his time at the Roar, he can’t expect just to walk straight back in the team despite proving his fitness with a couple of appearances for the club’s youth team.
There are a couple of reasons why.
The main one is Young’s current form. How can he be dropped after his man-of-the-match display in the Roar’s 2-1 win over Perth Glory?
Young played that well that his coach John Aloisi said he was the best keeper in A-League when it came to “one-on-one” situations.
Young will never take his spot for granted and goes by the “you’re only as good as you’re last game” mantra.
And going by that tune, Young is currently very good.
Another reason why Theo should not just be given his spot back is his lack of football in recent times.
Since the start of the 2014-2015 A-League season, the soon-to-be 35-year-old keeper has played in just six of the Roar’s 41 A-League matches.
A spate of injuries have hurt him and the longer he has spent out, the tougher he has found to maintain confidence in his own body.
In contrast, Young has grown in confidence during his ample game time since joining the Roar in 2014.
He has come a long way from the nervous keeper who was suddenly thrust into the spotlight when Theo broke his wrist just before the start of the 2014-15 season.
The Young-Theo matter is not the only selection poser Aloisi faces ahead of the Roar’s visit to Wellington to take on the Phoenix on Sunday.
With attacking pair Jamie Maclaren and Brandon Borrello away on Olyroos duty, Aloisi has to decide whether livewire Henrique starts or remains in the “super-sub” role.
The Brazilian-Australian has definitely offered more off the bench this season, and the Roar have sufficient depth –despite the absence of Maclaren and Borrello – to keep Henrique primed for a second-half burst.
