Football Federation Australia made the decision on Friday to change the kickoff time on Sunday from 1.30 to 4pm at Coopers Stadium, after news that the 41C temperature was far too dangerous, wrecking the Lady Reds plans of playing at Hindmarsh and being seen live on national TV.
Then after the warm up was delayed on Sunday the Lady Reds and Perth Glory were eventually told to move to West Beach for a 7.30pm kick off at Adelaide Shores.
The rescheduling cost both the Lady Reds and the Adelaide United A-League outfit dearly as the men’s team recorded its lowest crowd of the season — 6205 — when it beat Glory 1-0 at Coopers after its clash was rescheduled to 7pm from a 4.30pm start.
Shawn Billam put the home side on notice when she bagged the opener for Glory knocking the ball past US keeper Kaitlyn Savage in the seventh minute.
With the clock ticking down it looked like Lady Reds coach Jamie Harnwell was going to come away with zero points against his old club where he spent 17 years until Alex Gummer equalised from a corner kick in the 75th minute.
The Lady Reds now face Canberra United away on Saturday.
