FORMER WorldTour riders Jonathan Cantwell, Will Clarke and Wes Sulzberger will headline a red-hot Drapac team for the Jarvis Subaru Adelaide Tour in April.

Cantwell rode with Saxo-Tinkoff, Clarke with Argos-Shimano and Sulzberger with Orica-GreenEDGE last year and have all joined the newly promoted pro continental team for 2014.

Drapac made its Tour Down Under debut as a wildcard last month and is expected to be the team to beat in the Adelaide Tour which returns for a second year on the National Road Series (NRS) calendar.

The team will also include Jack Anderson, Jai Crawford, Ben Johnson, Lachlan Norris and Bernard Sulzberger for the April 3-6 race.

The tour has expanded to four stages this year and includes two road races, a criterium and kermesse offering something for the climbers and sprinters.

The first road race is 85km from Angaston to Campbelltown taking in the Corkscrew Road where Cadel Evans and Richie Porte went head-to-head in January.

Stage 2 is another road race but 155km long looping through the Adelaide Hills which starts and finishes at Bird in Hand Winery.

Stage 3 is a 62km criterium through the city and Stage 4 is an 82km kermesse at Campbelltown. The Adelaide Tour will also incorporate women’s racing over the same circuits but varying in distance.

The new-look NRS starts with the Tour of Perth from March 26-29 before Australia’s best domestic teams head to Adelaide.
