Best social media during incredible Cricket World Cup final
If anyone could sympathise with the extreme level of stress during the Cricket World Cup final — it was those watching at Wimbledon.
A game described by countless cricket stars as the greatest they’d ever seen created social media content to match.
None was better than this exchange between the official accounts for Wimbledon and the International Cricket Council, which perfectly summed up an incredible day of sport in England.

Then came Muslim duo Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid, who fled the trophy dais like it was on fire after the champagne began spraying.

In the end it was New Zealand-born Ben Stokes who claimed man of the match honours for England — and the Cricket World Cup’s official account had jokes as he was honoured by Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar. Although Harbhajan Singh didn’t appear to get it.
Really ?? It should be other way around.. congratulations @benstokes38 for winning the cup.. happy for you https://t.co/JuwcsmwJ9j

This wasn’t funny at all after Australia exited at the semi-final stage, but congratulations to England’s Aussie coach Trevor Bayliss.

And to show there’s no sour grapes, we’ll let Piers Morgan have the final word.
Iâve no idea what the f*ck is going on but this is the greatest game of cricket Iâve ever watched and the excitement may kill me.
