Cameron Green’s maiden List A century for Western Australia on Tuesday showed all the signs of a future superstar on the rise.

Cameron Green and Shaun Marsh both made big centuries for Western Australia.

Dismissing rising Test star Cameron Green is becoming one of the hardest tasks in Australian cricket after the West Australian pummelled the first of what could be many one-day centuries on Tuesday.

A second innings duck in last week’s Sheffield Shield match against South Australia stands as the outlier in a 10-day run spree which has netted the Test batsman 511 runs for just two dismissals.

Green pounded 144 off just 101 balls, including 16 fours and four sixes in an imposing one-day innings at the WACA.

The 21-year-old reached three figures off just 82 balls as he put the Redbacks bowling attack to the sword for the second time in five days.

His first innings haul in the Shield game at the WACA on the weekend was 168 not out, a knock which came a week after Green made 201 not out for his club side in Perth.

Green’s innings overshadowed another vintage effort from evergreen veteran Shaun Marsh (113) who made his 10th domestic one-day century for Western Australia.

No-one has managed to score as many hundreds in the one-day competition in as few games as the 37-year-old Marsh, who has continued to be a run-machine, winning back-to-back domestic player of the year awards.

Green and Marsh have also scored just under 1000 Sheffield Shield runs this season — Marsh has 554 and Green 531, underlying their dominance at state level.

Western Australia finished on a mammoth 5-369 off their 50 overs with Big Bash cult hero Peter Hatzoglou punished, conceding 71 runs off just eight overs.
