Steve Smith’s bedroom antics exposed by wife, Dani, before SCG Test

The wife of Aussie cricket star Steve Smith has reaffirmed him as the next-level cricket nerd we already knew him to be.

Shane Warne famously split the Australian cricket team in two groups in the 1990s – the cool kids who were known as “Julios” and the nerds.

There’s no doubt about which group Steve Smith would have slotted into.

Stories of the star Aussie cricketer’s obsession with batting have become famous since his emergence as the best batsman in the world, but this latest example might trump them all.

Finally reunited with his wife, Dani, after four-and-half months apart while he travelled the world and the rest of Australia playing cricket, Smith was in no mood to come to bed early on the eve of the Third Test.

A man who regularly bothers other members of the Aussie squad by tapping his bat on the floor of his hotel room at all hours of the night was at it again.

But this time while he shadow batted Smith went all out, getting dressed in his Test match whites while he practised playing cut shots. Of course the Big Bash League was on in the background too.

“Like a kid on Christmas Eve,” Dani wrote to accompany the vision.

After reposting the video, Smith added: “Sometimes you’ve just got to shadow bat in full kit to get the feel.”

Smith later revealed during coverage of the Third Test he wanted to see if a new pair of thigh pads fit properly in his pants and put the top on too for a laugh.

Smith’s never-ending search for “the feel” appeared at a promising end earlier this summer.

After an underwhelming IPL season, the 31-year-old revealed he’d “found his hands” during a net session ahead of a one-day series against India.

The results were instant too as he smashed back-to-back centuries.

That form hasn’t carried over to the Test arena where he’s failed to reach double figures in four innings but hopefully Wednesday night’s session was just the tonic for a return to dominance.
