Steve Smith’s bedroom antics exposed as wife catches star in the act at 1am

Steve Smith’s wife knows about his peculiar habits better than most and she caught him on camera in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Steve Smith was at his eccentric best in the early hours of Sunday morning as the clock ticked towards 1am.

The Aussie cricket captain’s wife Dani Willis posted a video on Instagram showing the right-hander shadow batting in his hotel room, testing out a new piece of willow.

We’re not sure whether Willis was also providing her thoughts on the bat, or if Smith was simply getting in the way of the Seinfeld episode on their TV.

It’s not the first time Willis has enjoyed a front-row seat to Smith’s attachment issues with his bats. In January, she shared a video of the 32-year-old in their hotel pretending he was out in the middle, while fully kitted out in his playing whites.

“Like a kid on Christmas Eve,” Dani wrote to accompany the vision.

After reposting the video, Smith added: “Sometimes you’ve just got to shadow bat in full kit to get the feel.”

Whatever Smith’s doing, it’s working as the Aussies dominate England in the second Ashes Test in Adelaide. The hosts were in the box seat after three days, building a hefty second-innings lead.

Smith took over the captaincy in the South Australian capital after Pat Cummins was ruled out because of a Covid-19 scare and everything he’s touched has turned to gold. He scored 93 in the first innings then took two hot catches in the slips as the Poms were rolled for 236 in their first innings, well behind Australia’s total of 9/473 declared.

This is the first time Smith has captained Australia since he was stripped of his leadership position and banned for 12 months for his role in the ball tampering scandal in early 2018.
