Son’s Shane Warne birthday tribute could not be more perfect
It’s now been two birthdays without Shane Warne but his son Jackson has delivered the most perfect tribute you could imagine.
Jackson Warne, the son of late Aussie cricket legend Shane Warne, has celebrated what would have been his father’s 54th birthday in nearly the perfect way.
It is the second birthday since Warne — who was born on September 13, 1969 — died in Thailand in March 2022, which stunned the sporting world.
Warne died of a heart attack after going on holidays on the island of Koh Samui.
But Jackson has posted a fitting tribute, spending the day doing things he used to do with his dad.
“So today would have been Dad’s 54th birthday — happy birthday Dad,” Warne begins in the video.
“I thought instead of being sad or posting a story or a post in black or white with a big caption with things that are quite obvious, I’m going to do what Dad would have wanted me to do which is be happy and do things that make me happy.
“I’ve already gone to the gym, but I want to do three things that me and dad used to do together all the time.
“The first one being Maccas (McDonald’s). We will either get Maccas at lunch or dinner, but at some stage today we will get Maccas cause we loved Maccas.
“Second thing is dad’s favourite TV show was Two and a Half Men, but it had to be the episodes with Charlie Sheen. He loved Charlie Sheen and loved Two and a Half Men so I will watch an episode of that.
“Thirdly roulette. Roulette is literally on par with me and dad’s poker and we just loved cheering on a 23 for a spin. So we will go downstairs and see if we can hit a 23, and yeah, happy birthday dad.”
The video continues with Warne eating McDonald’s and watching Two and a Half Men, with a scene playing of Sheen sitting on a lounge.
“You literally cannot make this stuff up,” Warne said.
“I don’t even have to use YouTube to look for it (Two and a Half Men) and it’s the first thing on Fox.”
Warne then goes to the casino and plays roulette, however he did not win.
“So we just did a few spins, we didn’t hit a 23 but the table next to us did,” Warne said.
“So I’m looking at that as a sign that he is still here, but he wants us to save our money and go back to the room.
“Happy birthday homma.”
The pitch perfect tribute went down a treat with his family, who jumped in the comments.
His sisters Brooke and Summer as well as mum Simone Callaghan all commented.
“So cute!!!” Brooke wrote. “The day of doing all Dads favourite things, love it Jacko! Lots of lollies, potato cakes, two and a half men and Boston Legal ready to go for tonight! Spot on – love you! Should I delete my story?”
When Jackson told her to leave her post up, Brooke added: “Looking forward to more maccas and two and a half men over weekend ! Spag bowl or lasagne for dinner tonight too — love you xx”.
Summer added: “So does that mean I need to delete my story ?”
Callahan posted: “Beautiful in every sense, Dad would love this so much, we are so proud of you. You are the most amazing wonderful human, love you Freddy!”
