Test hero Scott Boland is taking his Big Bash career full circle after signing a three-year deal with the Melbourne Stars.

Boland will get to play more games at the MCG, the scene of his remarkable Ashes debut where he took 6-7 to cement his star status and his place in the Australian squad.

The fast bowler returns to the Stars where he played in the third season of the Big Bash, having spent three seasons with the Hobart Hurricanes before Test commitments limited his appearances.

“I can’t wait to be a part of the Big Bash again and it’s great to be back at home with the Melbourne Stars in front of family and friends at the MCG,” Boland said.

“The Stars have the best fans in the league and hopefully I can be a part of some success and that elusive first BBL title.”

The Stars have failed to win a Big Bash title despite three appearances in the final but will have a different look next season.

Australian spinner Adam Zampa, who captained the green team in the absence of injured star Glenn Maxwell last season, is set to leave.

The 30-year-old wrist spinner is contracted to the Stars for two more seasons, but the club is looking to trade him to cross-town rivals the Renegades in exchange for wicketkeeper Sam Harper.

The Stars also have a new coach in Peter Moores after David Hussey stepped down.

General manager Blair Crouch said Boland’s signing was massive given his links to Melbourne and the MCG.

“I can’t remember a player bursting onto the scene and being loved by the MCG crowd as much as Scott Boland since Shane Warne,” he said.

“It only seems appropriate that fans will get to see him more at the MCG over the next three summers for the Melbourne Stars.

“Scott is a quality person, we’re thrilled to welcome him and his family back to the Stars and I know our members and fans will love what he will bring to the club.”

The fixture for the upcoming BBL season, which has been reduced by 17 games, will be revealed next Thursday.
