In the end, the Lions totalled 319, with Flintoff topscoring in a staggering effort at Allan Border Field to respond to Australia’s 214.
Tom Whitney starred with the ball for the hosts, taking 4/72 off his 16 overs, while wicketkeeper batsmen Ryan Hicks top scored with 64 in the first innings.

Flintoff has enjoyed an impressive rise in recent years, being rewarded with a call-up to tour under his father as Lions coach as part of England’s wider Ashes preparations.
The young gun was a surprise inclusion in this squad, having only signed his first professional contract with Lancashire in June.
That deal came after he scored a century for Lancashire’s 2nd XI in April, going on to make four first class appearances and feature in seven List A clashes.
Flintoff also belted a century for England under 19s in July, becoming the youngest cricketer ever to reach triple figures for the youth team.
With his father watching from the stands, the 16-year-old scored a classy 106 (181), surpassing Ian Bell’s previous record when he tallied a century at 16 years and 313 days against New Zealand in February 1999.
Veteran journalist Robert Craddock wrote on X that Flintoff “bats, walks and talks like Dad”.
