Raining on their parade: Wet weather wreaks havoc as Sixers miss the chance to move into the top four
Heavy rain has wreaked havoc for one WBBL powerhouse club who missed the chance to move into the top four.
The Sixers missed the chance to jump back into the WBBL top four after their match against the winless Brisbane Heat was washed out without a ball being bowled on Friday afternoon.
Sydney has often earned the ire of cricket fans for its tendency to rain during big games, but this time it was Adelaide’s turn to spoil the party with persistent showers ruining the first game of the double-header.
The wet weather was particularly costly for the Sixers who entered the game two points behind the fourth-placed Scorchers, but the point they picked up could be handy given they have an extra game up their sleeve.
The point also helps them given their shocking net run rate which took a massive hit last week when they were obliterated by the Stars.
But they’ll be annoyed they didn’t get to take on the Heat who lost their first six matches and will not feature in this year’s finals having made the decider 12 months ago.
They are on one point after seven games ahead of their next match against the Strikers on Sunday, with the Sixers to face the Thunder in the derby later that day.
