Mitch Marsh’s rogue gesture in Cricket World Cup final is as alpha as it gets
Mitch Marsh is known for being a chilled customer but fans couldn’t believe it when he let loose with a cheeky act in the World Cup final.
That could have looked a whole lot worse.
Mitch Marsh has shown just how relaxed the Aussies were during their thrilling six-wicket win over India in the Cricket World Cup final.
Marsh made a run-a-ball 15 but lost his wicket when he swung at a wide Jasprit Bumrah delivery and edged it through to the keeper.

It left Australia at 2/41 and it was game on at 3/47 when Steve Smith was given out LBW but for some reason chose not to review the decision at a pivotal moment in the game
Marsh didn’t seem too bothered by his dismissal, giving KL Rahul a cheeky wink as he walked off the field.
The unusual reaction didn’t go unnoticed by cricket fans, who were surprised Marsh was so relaxed give he had just got out at a crucial part of a World Cup final.
The reaction would have been analysed to death had Australia lost the match, but many believe the wink was simply a sign of how relaxed the Aussies were on the big stage.
Social media was full of fans asking the same question: “Why did Mitchell Marsh wink after getting dismissed?”

Marsh enjoyed a sensational tournament, scoring two centuries including a blistering 177 off 136 balls in the win against Bangladesh.
That innings was even more impressive given it was his first game back after flying home to Perth midway through the tournament to mourn the death of his grandfather.
It’s the third World Cup win for Marsh, who starred in the 2021 T20 World Cup triumph and was part of the squad that won the 2015 ODI World Cup in Australia.
Earlier, it was Travis Head that stole the show.
The South Australian left his teammates in disbelief as he added man-of-the-match honours in India to the same achievement in the World Test Championship final.
Head put on 192 runs with Marnus Labuschagne to seal a famous victory.
“Not in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be here,” he said as he soaked up the win.
“It’s hard to put into words how it felt. I felt so in control with ‘Marn’ out there. We spoke today about not leaving anything on the table and not leaving anything to chance.
“To imagine getting a hundred in a World Cup final, not knowing if I was going to be here, it’s crazy …. There was a moment there when I looked up and we needed 30 to win and I still couldn’t believe what was going on.”
