Marcus Stoinis has found himself in the crosshairs of Indian cricket fans over one act following the World Cup Final.

As the Aussie players were called up to the podium to collect their victorious medals, Stoinis brushed straight past the four men standing between him and his medal.

Those on the podium included BCCI president Roger Binny and secretary Jay Shah, but it was his handshake snub on Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar that has infuriated the nation.

Footage of the incident quickly set social media on fire as Stoinis snubbed the trio before collecting his medal from ICC chairman Greg Barclay.

The Aussie all-rounder did appear to acknowledge Tendulkar after walking past him, but the damage was already done.

He’s not the only Aussie player copping the wrath of fans with Adam Zampa also under fire despite the spin bowler shaking the hand of Tendulkar on his way across the podium.

Fans online were apoplectic and unleashed over the actions of the two Aussie stars.

One wrote: “Stoinis has disrespected the God … I don’t see his cricket career going anywhere from here now. Save this tweet … And for Zampa, Roger Binny was a WC winner before Zampa was born, should’ve shook his hand at least.”

Another added: “It’s totally disrespect of one of the greatest of the game.”

A third wrote: “IPL contracts gone now.”

While some fans remain irate over Stoinis’ handshake snub act, the move pales in comparison to what Australian players and their families have endured since the final.

The wives of Australian cricketers, foreign journalists and even New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham found themselves the target of vile social media attacks.

Glenn Maxwell’s wife Vini Raman, who is of Indian descent, posted a message on social media exposing the shameful aftermath.

“Aaaaand cue all the hateful vile DMs. Stay classy …” she wrote on Instagram.

“Can’t believe this needs to be said BUT you can be Indian, also support the country of your birth where you have been raised, and more importantly the team your husband and father of your child plays in.

“Take a chill pill and direct that outrage towards more important world issues.”

Aussie matchwinner Travis Head’s wife Jessica was also bombarded with nasty comments that were described as “disgusting” and “grubby” after his knock of 137.

ESPN Australia contributor Steve Smith posted messages from fans that read, “I hope plane crashes, all of your team die along with their family members,” and “If I ever see you somewhere, you’re not walking out from there.”

Ian Higgins, who hosts the popular Grade Cricketer podcast, was also told to “kill himself”.

However, while there are some bad eggs, there are plenty more fans embarrassed by the trolls among them and apologising for the over-reaction.
