Kurtis Patterson’s dad drops golden truth bomb in hilarious interview
The father of Kurtis Patterson almost overshadowed his son’s incredible maiden Test ton with his hilarious, all-Aussie reaction.
Kurtis Patterson’s maiden Test century lit up Manuka Oval but his dad’s reaction won the day.
Patterson brought up his Test century shortly before Tim Paine declared the Australian innings closed at 5/534 with the NSW star on 114 not out off 192 balls.
There were tears in his parents’ eyes when Patterson brought up his century. Fox Cricket reporter Neroli Meadows spoke to them after the declaration and they couldn’t hide their pride.
When asked how they will celebrate, Patterson’s father Brad dropped a glittering piece of gold.
“Probably about a thousand beers,” he said to end the interview.

Patterson’s ton was the third of the innings following Joe Burns’ 180 and Travis Head’s 161. Understandably, his mum Dana was emotional after witnessing her son achieve his lifelong dream.
“I’m shaking a lot, my voice is quivering and I’m just so excited for Kurtis,” she said.
“This is a dream come true for Kurtis and he’s worked so hard and I’m just so grateful that he’s had a chance to get on the big stage and the big arena and show everybody what he's made of and I’m just so happy for him and so proud of him.”
Brad was still stunned by the incredible moment but still had the presence of mind to thank Patterson’s friends and family for their support.
“It just means everything to us and his friends and family that have supported him the last couple of games and the friends and family who couldn’t be here,” he said.
“My mum will be beside herself at home watch on TV. We are just living the dream at the moment. We’re all living the dream, we just can’t believe it.”
Patterson’s parents weren’t the only ones freaking out about the century.
NSW Blues bowler and Patterson’s teammate Trent Copeland took to Twitter to live stream the moment and his reaction.

Patterson spoke at the Tea break and said it was great to be able to achieve his childhood dream.
“It’s very special, I’ve probably played that innings in my head since I was kid a lot of times so it was nice to go out there and make it a reality,” Kurtis said on Fox Cricket.
“They’ve been a really special part of my journey and they’ve played a really strong role, particularly dad with the specific cricket stuff. It’s great for them to be able to receive some joy out of it as well.”
