Jonathan Trott sticks the boot into David Warner after Australian opener is hit with one-year ban
FOUR years ago, David Warner used the words ‘weak’ and ‘poor’ to describe an England opponent who suffered mental illness. The disgraced Aussie just copped a gleeful farewell after his one-year ban from cricket for cheating.
FORMER England player Jonathan Trott has stuck the boot into David Warner following the Australian’s one-year ban from cricket.
Warner has been singled out as the mastermind of Australia’s ball-tampering ploy in Cape Town, while Steve Smith has also been banned for 12 months for having “knowledge of a potential plan” to tamper with the ball. Cameron Bancroft has been given a lesser sentence of nine months.
The suspensions dealt by CA have been criticised as heavy-handed by many but not Trott, who has a grudge to bear with Warner.
Warner described Trott’s capitulation to Mitchell Johnson in the 2013-14 Ashes as “pretty poor and pretty weak.”
The Englishman got his own back on Wednesday.

Sachin Tendulkar, the greatest run-scorer in international cricket history, opined that CA had made the right decision with the “integrity of the game” in mind. Tendulkar was accused of ball tampering in 2001 but later found to be cleaning grass from the ball without informing the umpires — a violation that saw him fined 75 per cent of his match fee and dealt a suspended one-match ban at the time.
Cricket has been known as a gentleman's game. It's a game that I believe should be played in the purest form. Whatever has happened is unfortunate but the right decision has been taken to uphold the integrity of the game. Winning is important but the way you win is more important

However, the Indian great is seemingly an outlier, with most of the cricketing community stunned by the punishments dealt out.
Even Dale Steyn, the injured member of South Africa’s attack, felt the Australian trio had been harshly treated.
YOH those bans are heavy.

Itâs just, well, itâs, WOW.
Thatâs life changing stuff.
That shit at the airport looked totally unnecessary though
So too did Michael Vaughan, who has made merry out of the Australians’ misery since the story first broke on Saturday/Sunday night.
However, he couldn’t help but sneak in a shot at Warner, who he was also critical of for dragging Bancroft into the whole messy affair.
Steve Smith I think is a good guy who made a huge mistake ... He needed punishing but I think this is too harsh ... Bancroft who I donât know was led astray but deserved punishing but again too harshly IMO ... The other guy I really donât care about ...

Vaughan could see the logic behind the lengthy bans however.
Many think the Bans are harsh (Me Included) but the precedent has now been set by CA ... They realised they had to send a message across the whole game ... With what these players will lose out on I am sure the shock wave will do its job ...
