Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant hospitalised after car accident
India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has been hospitalised following a horror car accident in New Delhi on Friday morning.
India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has been hospitalised following a car accident near Roorkee in Uttarakhand.
According to local reports, the 25-year-old’s car collided with a highway road divider while travelling to New Delhi on Friday morning, with IndiaToday reporting that Pant said he had dozed off before the crash which took place before 6am local time.
A police spokesman claimed that Pant also said he broke the car’s glass windshield to escape flames that engulfed his BMW.
Pant was initially admitted to Saksham Hospital in Roorkee, but has now he has been referred to Max Hospital in Dehradun.
Dr. Sushil Nagar, chairman of Saksham Hospital, said that Pant‘s condition
was stable. According to later reports, Dr Nagar said that initial X-rays showed no bone fractures and no burns on Pant’s body despite the fire. Pant suffered abrasions on his back.
He will be sent for MRIs and further scans in coming days.
According to Indian legend VVS Laxman, the cricketer is “out of danger”.
Pant has scored 2271 Test runs at 43.67 since making his debut in 2018, including five centuries. He became a household name following two career-defining performances against Australia in Sydney and Brisbane last year.
Last week, Pant scored 93 during India’s second Test against Bangladesh in Mirpur.
