First Ashes Test Australia vs England live updates: Cricket world fumes at Day 1 farce
The cricket world has been left furious, with Day 1 of the Ashes Test descending into chaos and leaving fans saying the same thing.
Nineteen wickets fell on an insane opening day of the first Ashes Test at Perth Stadium as the pacemen wreaked havoc on a bowler-friendly wicket.
It was a similar story to the first Test of last summer’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy campaign, when 17 wickets fell.
Except this time the number was 19, the most to fall on the opening day of an Ashes Test since 1909.

England looked in all sorts after posting a measly 172 in just 32.5 overs in their first innings.
But when the Poms had their chance with the ball, they ripped through the Aussie side with ease.
In the end, a shellshocked Australian unit finished the day on the back foot at 9-123, still trailing by 49 runs.
England captain Ben Stokes took five wickets in an evening session masterclass, while Jofra Archer and Brydon Carse tormented the top order.
Earlier on Friday, Mitchell Starc stepped up in the absence of Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins, claiming seven wickets in a career-best performance.
The left-arm quick took 7-58 as England’s Bazball style fell fast.
England scored at a scorching 5.24 runs per over but didn’t even make the 33-over mark.
To put into perspective, their innings was over quicker than any Test team on Australian soil since 1932.
However, Australia’s batters didn’t fare much better.
At stumps, it’s advantage England, with tailenders Nathan Lyon (3) and Brendan Doggett (0) unbeaten.
