Ellyse Perry recorded the best ever bowling figures in the Women’s Premier League

Ellyse Perry has dropped jaws around the cricketing world with a record-breaking performance, 17 years after she first played for Australia.

A record-breaking performance from Ellyse Perry in the WPL powered Royal Challengers Bangalore to a dominant win overnight

In her 17th year at the elite level Australian superstar Ellyse Perry is still doing things others can’t, including producing the best ever bowling figures in the Women’s Premier League.

Perry, 33, remains at the peak of her powers and produced with bat and ball in a player of the match performance as her Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) beat defending champions Mumbai Indians by seven wickets in Delhi.

First Perry ripped through the Indian batting order taking 6-15, the best bowling figures in the short history of the tournament.

The all-round star then followed up with the bat making 40 not out.

“Sometimes, it just goes your way,” Perry said post-match, her modesty a key part of the veteran star’s arsenal.

“I really enjoyed bowling. Sometimes, I am just getting walloped all around the ground, then some days it is like this. The ball nipped around a little bit and it was fun.

“The games are coming thick and fast and you don’t know. You turn up and have a go.”

The performance came after Perry, who made her international debut for Australia as a teenager in 2007, smashed the window of a sponsor’s car parked ju8st outside the boundary when hitting a six last week.

More impressively, Perry’s six-wicket haul came after not previously taking a wicket in this year’s tournament.

“I managed to find a good length most of the time and it did a little bit off the wicket,” she said.

“It was good fun.”
