Hollywood star Elizabeth Hurley has opened up on the private battles she fought following the death of Shane Warne.

The golden couple were a headline-making machine during their romantic relationship between 2011-2013.

The Aussie cricket icon spontaneously proposed to Hurley on James Packer’s boat in 2011.

In Warne’s autobiography, No Spin, he described their relationship as the “happiest years of my life”.

It’s why the Aussie cult figure’s sudden death at the age of 52 hit Hurley so hard.

The English actor, model, fashion designer and author has previously spoken about the grief she went through and the relationships she now has with Warne’s children, Brooke, Summer and Jackson.

She says the pain has never left her since news first emerged about Warne’s death from a heart attack in Bali in 2022.

“We have suffered loss,’ she told The Telegraph about her son Damian, who has directed a film featuring his mum.

“And interestingly, this movie [Strictly Confidential] sort of pulls on those feelings of loss quite a lot – and in a lot of Damian’s work I do see that.

“Yes, it’s a bond… It was appalling losing Shane; it was a terrible thing. And it’s a sadness, you know, that stays with you a long time.”

Hurley’s appearance in the set-to-be-released Strictly Confidential, is her son Damian’s directorial debut, and has made headlines for the fact the 22-year-old filmed his mum’s sex scene.

She said it was with Warne and his children where she noticed her son had a flare for the cinema.

“He sort of chased me around making his baby films, all the way until his mid-teens, which we cut on to DVDs and they are hysterical,” she said.

“There’s me and my friends, Hugh’s in them, my ex Shane [Warne] is in many of them, Shane’s kids, all our cousins, nephews, nieces are in these baby films. And I’d always promised him that when he finally got to do his first feature I would be in it.”

Warne and Hurley met at a horse racing event in 2010 where they instantly clicked, she had previously said.

Their pair were spotted kissing in London shortly after just months after Hurley had split from her ex-husband Arun Nayar.

During an episode of his TV show, A Week with Warnie, the Spin King revealed the break up still pained him seven years down the track.

“I’m quite sad it’s over because I still care about her deeply and she’s a wonderful person,” he said.

Hurley released an emotional, classy message following Warne’s death.

Hurley took to Instagram at the time, sharing multiple photos of the pair together.

“I feel like the sun has gone behind a cloud forever. RIP my beloved Lionheart,” she wrote.

Hurley’s son Damian also posted on Instagram about Warne as he too shared a series of happy snaps with the cricket icon.

“I’m still trying to wrap my head around this … SW was a father figure to me for most of my formative years and was truly one the best men I’ve ever known,” Damian wrote.

“My heart is broken. Thinking of and sending love to all SW’s family.”
