Cricket: Aussie T20 veteran Dan Christian racks up eighth title with victory in England
Aussie T20 veteran Dan Christian remains an absolute weapon in the short form, racking up his eighth title with a victory in England.
The Sydney Sixers should be licking their lips for the upcoming Big Bash after T20 title-winning tornado Dan Christian collected yet another trophy, this time in England.
Christian, 37 was captain, and man of the match, in the Notts Outlaws’ Vitalist Blast win over Surrey at Edgbaston, taking four wickets and then hitting an unbeaten 21 to lead his team to victory, the second title for his team in the past three years.
The Aussie all-rounder has made a habit of winning trophies, playing a key role in the Melbourne Renegades’ BBL success in the 2018/19 season
He now boasts eight T20 titles – Hampshire in 2010, South Australia in 2010-11, Brisbane Heat in 2012-13, Nottinghamshire twice, Trinbago in the Caribbean Premier League in 2017, the Jozi Stars in South Africa, plus his win with the Renegades.
Christian, who was also man of the match in the semi-final of the tournament, maintains ambitions to get back into the Australian T20 team – the last of his 16 international T20s was in October, 2017 against India.
This summer Christian, who has played 35 white-ball games for Australia, will play in the BBL for the Sixers having moved on from the Renegades.
He was instrumental with bat and ball for Notts in the final, showing what a T20 weapon he remains.
“I’ve had the odd day out, but it’s always nice to do it when it really matters, in a final when the game’s on the line,” Christian said after play.
“It was a good day for me personally but everyone played really well. We were dominant the way through. We dominated the semi-final and then dominated the final as well.”
