Clip raises eyebrows as storm erupts in First Test against Pakistan

The sight of a Pakistan star flashing his arm in an exchange with an umpire has got tongues wagging during the First Test.

Tongues are wagging about the sight of Pakistan’s Salman Agha being summoned by an umpire on the opening day of the First Test Pakistan.

As the Pakistan attack was being put to the sword by David Warner in the second session of play the on-field umpires appeared to spot something they had concerns with.

Fox Cricket cameras captured the moment Agha appeared to be told by an umpire to show his arms and wrists after they spotted something they wanted a closer look at.

Agha first appeared to be questioned following the dismissal of Steve Smith when the Australian was caught behind off the bowling of Khurram Shahzad for 31.

While his teammates were huddled celebrating the dismissal, Agha chatted with the match official before rolling up his sleeves.

The all-rounder again appeared perplexed several minutes later when the umpires again confronted him.

The right-hand batsman showed off a bracelet on his right arm as captain Shan Masood joined the conversation.

Agha appeared flustered by the exchange and eventually walked off after sharing a quick exchange with David Warner.

The moment got the attention of former Aussie Test spinner Kerry O’Keeffe.

“There’s a discussion going on out there,” he said on Fox Cricket.

“Do we know that what that’s about?”

Commentator Mark Howard responded: “There’s concern about the wristband.

“Warner said don’t worry about it. Play on.”

After the brief exchange, Warner looked down at the crease and shook his head.

Despite no further action being taken and the storm in a tea cup fizzing out, it has still created a stir with fans on social media.

One version of the video has more than 30,000 views on X, formerly known as Twitter.

It was just one of many frustrating moments on an ugly day for the tourists.

There was another flashpoint earlier in the day’s play when Warner pulled off an absurd shot off the bowling of Pakistan’s fast bowling spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Getting down on one knee, Warner executed a T20-style pull shot-reverse scoop over his shoulder that sailed 87 metres into the stands at Perth Stadium.

Afridi and Warner have shared plenty of battles in recent years, often meeting mid-pitch and sharing a laugh during their duels.

But the Pakistan speedster wasn’t in the mood this time around, brushing Warner when the Aussie veteran gave him a smile after he had a swing and a miss outside the off stump.

The pair crossed paths later in the field and nearly bumped into each other.

“Afridi just getting a little bit hot under the collar,” Hussey said.

Akram said: “I would have gone for the short ball. He didn’t like it all. Typical fast bowler response from the big man.”

Matthew Hayden said on Channel 7: “Warner gave a big smile to Shaheen. He didn’t like it. He didn’t like it. Normally Shaheen gives a smile back but not on that occasion.”

Former Pakistan paceman Waqar Younis said: “No self-respecting strike bowler would not have a word to say after beating the bat with the next ball.”

Warner’s knock of 164 was his 26th career Test century — and has guaranteed he will get the fairytale farewell he wants at the SCG in the New Year’s Test.
