First against second on the ladder, a rematch of the opening Qualifier Final earlier in the series, it doesn’t get much bigger than this, especially with a sell out crowd at the SCG.

Brisbane will be filthy that they aren’t hosting this match after finishing on top, but Sydney were too strong in the first final, dominating by 39 runs and bowling the Heat out for just 113.

Experience is definitely on the Sixers side here, as this makes a seventh final appearance across just 13 Big Bash seasons, but the rising Heat side will gain confidence from a valiant effort in the Final last campaign, narrowly losing to the Scorchers in BBL12.

UNDERRATED SIXERS SUPERSTAR

With the second most wickets in Sixers history and the fourth most in all time BBL statistics, Ben Dwarshuis is a player that continues to fly under the radar but he is a world class bowler that could be the difference in this final.

Leo Mullaly talks him up on the Cricket Today Podcast “five wickets in the last game, he has been superb this season, will be perfect in the middle overs to slow down the run rate and can change the game with the ball here.”

With the second most wickets in the league this season and the best economy rate (6.77) of anyone in this Final, Dwarshuis will be Sydney’s go to man and is a major reason why their opposition have only scored over 156 once in their last nine matches.

HEAT’S BAROMETER

Another BBL player that isn’t talked about enough is Brisbane skipper Nathan McSweeney who is an extremely classy batsmen and will need to go big for the Heat to put up a competitive total.

Starting off the season with two fifties before Christmas, helping towards some huge Heat wins, McSweeney will need to produce something close to that again, to get a big score before their struggling middle order can come in.

This side can’t rely on some Josh Brown brilliance of 140 off 57 balls like the last final, as that could never happen again and players like their skipper look set for a big game tonight to showcase they can hold their own with the bat.

“McSweeney is perfect for this pitch at the SCG, can go at 150 strike rate and is a player than can hit all around the ground, especially with these short boundaries.” says Liam “Stats Guy” McAllion on the Cricket Today Podcast.

WHO WINS?

Although the experience lies with the Sixers, the Heat actually have a strong record against them, winning three of the last four meetings and have the bowling attack to tear through even the best sides.

Brisbane are the only side with three of the top 10 wicket takers in the league and will love the slower wicket at the SCG with so many players who can bowl great slower balls.

This will come right down to the wire as do most of the Big Bash Finals, but the Heat will take out their first BBL title since BBL03 in dramatic fashion.

TIP: Brisbane Heat
