INJURY-PLAGUED Australian fast bowler Ryan Harris is back bowling in the practice nets today.

Despite being ruled out of the Big Bash tournament in his lengthy recovery from off-season shoulder surgery, Harris is bowling in the Gabba nets for the Brisbane Heat today.

Harris, with an extensive injury history, had shoulder surgery in August and it was hoped he would be fit for the Boxing Day Test against Sri Lanka.

But that has been ruled out as he continues a careful rehabilitation with the long-term goal of the 2013 Ashes in England.

Harris, who is arguably Australia's best bowler when fit, has also played some recent club cricket in Brisbane but has not bowled at full pace.

After so long on the sidelines, it was a good sign to see him steaming in at Heat training today.

West Indian fast bowler Kemar Roach is also training with the Heat today after his long odyssey to get to Australia last week.

The Heat play the Perth Scorchers at the Gabba tomorrow night.
