Australia vs India 1st Test Day 4: Cummins’ shock claim after heavy defeat

Pat Cummins has spoken after Australia’s belting against India, making a surprise claim about preparations for the first Test.

The first Test has been run and won and it’s India celebrating a dominant 295-run victory in Perth.

The result is Australia’s first loss in its fifth Test at Optus Stadium, while it’s India’s first triumph at the venue and first win in Perth since 2008, a result that was set up by some brilliant bowling and a superb effort with the bat in the second innings.

The Aussies were praying for a miracle when the fourth day of action commenced after India put them to the sword with the willow, but it failed to materialise.

Australia lost regular wickets and while a second dig of 238 was a marked improvement on the woeful first innings, it was still well short of making the match competitive.

Jasprit Bumrah took man of the match honours for his eight-wicket haul, including 5/30 in the first innings.

India now takes a 1-0 lead before the series shifts to Adelaide Oval, with the second Test commencing on December 6.
