Australia has secured a series whitewash win over Sri Lanka, finishing the job early on day four of the second Test in Galle.

Four wickets to each of Nathan Lyon and Matt Kuhnemann and two from Beau Webster saw Sri Lanka bowled out for 231 in its second innings, leaving Australia a target of just 75 to win.

The Australians made light work of the chase, winning with nine wickets to spare, with Usman Khawaja (27) and Marnus Labuschagne (26) not out after Travis Head fell for 20.

It is Australia’s first Test series win in Sri Lanka since 2011, and first series whitewash win in Asia since 2006, when it trumped Bangladesh 2-0.
