The cricket world was left in awe as Australia secured its sixth World Cup with a six-wicket victory over India in a thrilling final.

Australia has delivered one of the most famous victories in world cricket as they beat India by six wickets in the World Cup final.

A stunning century from Travis Head inspired the Aussies to victory, chasing down the target of 241 with seven overs to spare.

India will view the defeat as a major missed opportunity to win its first World Cup since 2011, especially in front of their own fans.

But they simply could not overcome the final hurdle as Australia proved why they are specialists in the final.

Safe to say, the cricket world was left in awe at Australia’s sixth World Cup triumph as they silenced an entire nation.

Even old enemy England stood and applauded, if slightly reluctantly.

But this is arguably the best title of them all. Their backs were against the wall for most of the tournament and people were writing them off.
