Appearing on Sunrise this morning, the Prime Minister has revealed he was actually sharing pictures of his fourth grandchild.

“I showed her pictures of the new grandchild,” Mr Turnbull said.

“She and the Prince both thought he looked terrific, so I have passed that back on to my son and his wife in Singapore.

“They have got royal approval.”

The Prime Minister also addressed criticism on social media, after some people slammed the focus on indigenous heritage.

2GB host Alan Jones was among the commentators who said the opening ceremony was a “disgrace”.

“Don’t read it. If you want to stay sane, don’t read all the negative stuff,” Mr Turnbull said on Sunrise.

“Social media is dominated by negativity, especially Twitter. Stay happy, don’t read it.”

Mr Turnbull said he thought the opening ceremony was “brilliant”.

“We should celebrate our successes without being bad winners,” he said.

“We have to recognise that we have got so much going for us — confidence, optimism, positivity.

“Glass half full, not half empty, that’s the right approach.”
