What the hell is The Splashies?

SHE took to the Commonwealth Games pool in a one piece for a lilo race at the weekend, but Ada Nicodemou says she hasn’t been seen in swimmers on screen for more than a decade.

The long time Home and Away cast member, who competed in the Optus Splashies event against the likes of Barry Hall and Mel Schlanger on Saturday night, said producers of the hit Channel Seven soap haven’t asked her to film in a bikini for “probably 15 years”.

“They just haven’t asked me, I don’t know whether I should be offended or not,” the actor laughed.

“I have no issues with being in swimmers. I love my body. I’m just comfortable with how I look. It’s a great way to be.”

The busy mum, who shares five-year-old son Johnas Xipolitas with her ex-husband Chrys, also opened up about turning 40, saying she has “no fear” about growing old.

“I actually love getting older,” she said. “It’s funny. I love being 40. I think as I get older I just become more secure and confident. I don’t sweat the small stuff anymore.”

After nearly 20 years starring as Leah on Home and Away, Nicodemou also eased the fears of fans revealing she had no plans to leave the show any time soon.

“I just love my job,” she said, having started as an actor with her first gig on Heartbreak High back in 1994.

“I’m so lucky to be an employed actor in Australia, because it’s very rare to have that solid employment.

“On top of that, the cast and crew are like my family.

“I really can’t see myself leaving.”
