Emma McKeon has joined Susie O'Neill, Ian Thorpe and Leisel Jones as the most decorated Commonwealth Games athletes on another golden day for Australia.

The second day of the swimming program finished with three more gold medals in the pool for Australia, including the women's and men's 4x100m freestyle relays as well as Katja Dedekind breaking the women's 50m freestyle S13 class world record for her gold.

But the big story of the day was McKeon, who equalled Australia's most decorated Commonwealth Games athletes after securing her 10th gold medal.

McKeon raced earlier in the evening in the 100m butterfly, but was out-touched by Canada's Maggie MacNeil, finishing in silver by just 0.02 seconds.

However, she wouldn't have to wait long as the Aussies dominated in the 4x100m, handing McKeon her 10th gold medal.

The team of Madi Wilson, Shayna Jack, Mollie O'Callaghan and McKeon dominated the event but while Jack claimed her redemption after so long out of the pool, it was a brilliant result for McKeon.

Speaking to Cate Campbell after the event, the always humble McKeon said it was a surprise.

"Thank you. I did not know. I did not realise," she said.

"It is nice to do that in a relay, it is kind of it has been over a long time I mean, my first one was 2014 and I was so young and just looking back on who I was back then because I have come such a long way because I am proud of what I have done and proud of how I have grown as a person and I think they are the kinds of things that you take with you when you finish swimming and those are the things I am most proud of."

McKeon just keeps racking up the records, having tallied 15 medals overall in her glittering career, just a year after becoming the most decorated Australian Olympic athlete of all-time last year.

It's was also a golden day for her boyfriend Cody Simpson, who raced in the men's 4x100m freestyle heats and will also get his hands on a gold medal.

The team of Finn Southam, Zac Incerti, William Yang and Kyle Chalmers brought home the gold in a tough race as they were pushed all the way by England and Canada in silver and bronze respectively.

It was a good day for Australia in the pool with three golds, two silvers and six bronze medals.

Chelsea Hodges won women's 50m breaststroke bronze, Elijah Winnington bronze in the men's 200m freestyle, Jacob Templeton bronze in the men's 50m freestyle S13, Kirralee Hayes claimed bronze behind Dedekind in the women's 50m freestyle S13, Brendon Smith silver in the men's 400m IM, Bradley Woodward bronze in the men's 100m backstroke, and McKeon had silver and Brianna Throssell bronze in the women's 100m butterfly.

Tomorrow, Jack has the potential to scoop two gold medals in two days after she led an Australian trifecta in the women's 50m freestyle semi-finals.

The 23-year-old's world championships comeback was cruelled by a freak injury last month where she broke her hand. It was a devastating set back after she had only recently returned from serving a two-year doping ban.
