Usain Bolt says Commonwealth Games make him want to compete again
WITH the Commonwealth Games giving Usain Bolt “goosebumps” and “the urge to compete”, the world’s fastest man says he wants to return to top-level sport — but not sprinting.
THE Commonwealth Games has given Usain Bolt itchy feet but he’s channelling that energy into partying and letting his hair down.
Hours after being pictured being served by lingerie clad waitresses at infamous Gold Coast nightclub Sin City, the world’s fastest man said he’s missing competition.
“Watching it on TV I get goosebumps and the urge to go out and compete,” Bolt told News Corp as he greeted media at the Optus 5G marquee at Broadbeach. “But I expected to feel that way. I know when competitions come around, I always want to compete. I always want to be the best.”

What really goes on in Gold Coast nightclub Sin City
Usain Bolt meet Commonwealth Games legend David Johnson during Gold Coast visit.
Bolt, 31, retired from competition following the world championships in London in August. One thing he doesn’t miss is training.
“The training alone, not at all,” he said. “It is just hard work. The injuries, the time it takes to get back from injuries. It is just a gruelling process at times and the older you get, the harder it gets.”
The Jamaican flew in to Australia yesterday and wasted no time making the most of the Surfers Paradise night-life, hitting the clubs until 4am.
But he was straight to work today, fulfilling his commitments to Optus as an ambassador for the telco and meeting Australian athletes at The Star.
While competing in athletics is behind him and he has ruled out a return to the track, Bolt is focused on professional football.
“For me I have already accomplished what I can in the sport when it comes to track and field,’ he said. “This is why I am trying to move on to another goal, I am trying to play soccer. For me it is a big deal, everyone thinks I am kidding around or joking but I am actually going back to Dortmund in a couple of weeks to work with them just to assess myself at a better level. That is something I am focused on doing and I am looking forward to the challenge. I want a new challenge in life so that is my focus.”
He added that being part of a team sport was a huge motivation in pushing forward with football.
“I personally think I can do it and because I am a hard worker, I am determined and I know I can do it.”
In a wideranging interview, Bolt also told News Corp he would like to see Denzel Washington play him on the big screen if a film of his life were to ever be made.
“Denzel would be a cool person to do it,” he said. “My story is just about hard work. A lot of people tell me I make it look so easy. I want them to see the work behind what I did.”
Bolt is also passionate about music. He got up behind the DJ desk at Sin City on Wednesday night and said he’d be open to releasing music in the future.
“It is something I have actually thought about doing,” he said, having released a track through Optus last year. “For me to try to do another track and to try to do bigger things, we will see.”
