TEENAGE para-athletics superstar Isis Holt has lived up to her nickname by adding Commonwealth Games gold to her expanding CV of sprint titles, as Australia had more success at Carrara.
ISIS Holt lived up to her nickname by adding the Commonwealth Games sprint title to her expanding CV.
The 16-year-old para-athlete has been labelled Lightning Holt Bolt by team captain Kurt Fearnley given her domination of sprints, similar to the great Usain Bolt.
Her gold just preceded Cameron Crombie’s success in the F38 shot put on a golden night at the Carrara track.
Last night Holt had Carrara Stadium rocking when she sprinted away to win the T35 100m gold medal in 13.58 sec. Her teammate Brianna Coop grabbed bronze.

“It hasn’t really sunk in yet,” Holt said. “It’s an amazing feeling.
“I think this one is the best one yet as nothing beats the feeling of running around with all the Aussies in the crowd.
“Nothing beats a Games on home soil.”
Holt has become a giant of para-athletics since bursting on the scene aged 14 when she set world records in winning both the women’s T35 100 and 200 metres at the 2015 IPC World Championships in Doha.
Silver medals in the 100m and 200m followed at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio, before she returned to the top of the podium in the two sprint events at last year’s London world titles.
Holt’s win in the 100m in London saw her lower her world record to 13.43 seconds, a mark she has since brought down at February’s Commonwealth Games selection trials (13.37 seconds) before lowering it again at the Australian junior championships (13.36 seconds) in Sydney last month.
In the shot put, Crombie landed a 15.74 throw to win by exactly two metres over compatriot Marty Jackson with Reinhardt Hamman (13.15) from South Africa taking bronze.
