John Daly rushed to hospital after collapsing on 18th hole
VETERAN golfer John Daly has been rushed to hospital after allegedly collapsing on the 18th tee at a Mississippi golf club.
FORMER PGA Championship winner John Daly has been rushed to hospital after he allegedly collapsed during a round of golf in the US.
Daly was at the 18th tee of the Deerfield Golf Club in Mississippi when sources say he collapsed to the ground, requiring emergency medical attention.
The 49-year-old was rushed to nearby Baptist Medical Centre where he underwent tests and is currently being monitored.
Emergency room staff were able to confirm Daly had been admitted to the Centre, but could not give an update on the golfer’s condition.
Daly’s friend, Billy Allen, who was with Daly at the hospital, said the two-time major champion’s vital signs were good but doctors were checking on possible injuries to his ribs and fingers.
Deerfield club pro Leigh Brannan, who was at the tournament, said Daly was having trouble with the heat and had some difficulty breathing before being taken to the hospital.
“He was struggling pretty badly right before he collapsed,” Brannan said.
“But we’re all hoping it’s nothing serious and that he was just a little dehydrated. He was even telling (Allen) he still wants to play (Monday).”
The PGA Tour member recently missed the cut for the PGA Championship at Whistling Straight after he shot a 10 on a par-3 while playing the 7th hole at the same course.
No confirmation either way, but some are saying John Dalyâs issue today at Deerfield in Canton appeared heat/dehydration related.

Daly has in the past battled with poor health and alcohol abuse, having been arrested in 2008 after he was found intoxicated in a Hooters restaurant.
Once PGA Rookie of the Year, Daly has reportedly been sober since the incident.
