Tim Tszyu may have to wait a little while longer for a shot at a world title after the man at the top of his boxing hit list, Jermell Charlo, completely dismissed him in a brutal swipe.

Charlo became the undisputed king of the super welterweight division with an emphatic KO win over Brian Castano in their epic rematch on Sunday (AEST).

In a sensational duel, the American outlasted Castano and landed the knockout blow in the 10th round with a brutal left hook.

“This is unbelievable,” Charlo said after his victory.

“I did it for us, USA! I did it for us.”

“This is legacy. This is something that is legendary. I’m a legend. Thank god. I ain’t done, dog. I might move up to 160 (pounds) and see if I can do it again.”

It was an emphatic result for Charlo, whose status as the king of the 154-pound division came under question following his draw with Castano last year.

Charlo now holds the IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO super welterweight belts.

He joins an illustrious list featuring Bernard Hopkings, Jermain Taylor, Terence Crawford, Oleksandr Usyk, Josh Taylor and Canelo Alvarez as the only undisputed male champions in the four-belt era.

Tszyu is the mandatory challenger for the WBO world title and has made no secret Charlo would be his preferred opponent, partly because he is a bigger name and has repeatedly dismissed the Australian.

The 27-year-old has repeatedly made it clear he wants his next fight to be for a world title and travelled to the US to watch the bout ringside and eyeball Charlo and Castano in person.

“I’m hoping Charlo wins, just because I’d love to fight him and smack him out,” Tszyu told Showtime before the fight.

He then tweeted after the fight: “Great fight and great win for Charlo. Ready when you are @TwinCharlo.”

Australian boxer Billy Dib tweeted: “Wow what a finish by Charlo.

“Tim Tszyu is the mandatory challenger for the winner of this match-up.”

But Charlo was coy when asked in the ring what he had planned next in his boxing career.

“I don’t know what I’m going to do next,” the 31-year-old said.

Asked post-fight about his prospects of fighting Tszyu, Charlo was extremely dismissive of him and referred to Terrell Gausha’s first-round knockdown of the Aussie in his most recent fight.

“Didn’t he get dropped? That motherf***er’s out. He got dropped,” Charlo said.

“It’s different heat over here in America, baby. It’s different heat in America.

“How much Tim Too, whatever his f***in’ name is, how much they got? How much money they got? F*** you and Tim Kazoo, change the mic.”

Charlo’s trainer Derrick James added: “I saw him in his last fight — he should be quiet.

“I don’t watch a lot of boxing, but he didn’t look so great. He should work on his own situation.”

It’s not the first time Charlo has trashed Tszyu and made fun of his name.

“First off, Tim ‘Kostya’ Tszyu is not on a level to even fight for a world title,” he said last year, implying Tszyu was still in the shadow of his father, former world champion Kostya.

“He ain’t even on the level to fight some of the guys that I’ve knocked the f**k out of and he ain’t even going to get no chance to fight me, probably throughout my career. I’m just being honest with you.”

Speaking after his loss, Castano agreed Tszyu needs another fight under his belt before he takes on Charlo, but said he was open to fighting Tszyu.

“He’s a great fighter but he’s probably not ready for the Charlos,” Castano said through a translator.

“He should face another opponent before that, even though he looked great when he beat Terrell Gausha. But this is a business.

“I know he was looking at me, so if I’m offered a fight with him in the US, it makes sense, this is business and I will take it.”
