Paul Gallen vs Darcy Lussick: What time does fight actually start

Paul Gallen is back in the ring as he chases a juicy cash bonus on a mega Christmas boxing extravaganza over two nights.

Former NRL star Paul Gallen is back in the ring tonight, this time taking on ex-Manly and Parramatta player Darcy Lussick.

Gallen was originally due to face Sea Eagle Josh Aloiai before he pulled out of the fight after testing positive to Covid-19.

He will be expecting to easily account for Lussick, who made his name with a first-round knockout win over Brisbane Broncos legend Justin Hodges in 2019.

Gallen has talked a big game in the lead up and made it clear he wants to “smash” Lussick. He’ll have to do it quickly though — the pair will go head to head in the ring for just three two-minute rounds.

There’s some cash on the line too. No Limit promoter George Rose announced the fighter who delivers the best knockout of the night will be awarded a $20,000 bonus. If Lussick KOs Gallen, he’ll leave with an extra $20,000 in his back pocket — and vice versa.

The former Cronulla Sharks captain will headline a mega two-night boxing extravaganza in Sydney this week. The action will kick off on Tuesday with a card featuring super flyweight star Andrew Moloney’s fight with Froilan Saludar.

The undercard for the Gallen-Lussick fight on Wednesday is packed with familiar names and ex-NRL stars.

Tokyo Olympic bronze medallist Harry Garside will be making his professional debut against Sachin Mudaliar, a southpaw who boasts a strong 9-1 record.

Hodges is taking on former rugby league player Nathan Ross, while Joey Leilua and Chris Heighington will go head to head in the battle of the ex-Wests Tigers players.

When is the fight on?

The Gallen-Lussick fight is scheduled for Wednesday 22 December with coverage of the fight card to begin at 7pm (AEDT).

Depending on how the earlier fights pan out, Gallen and Lussick should enter the ring a couple of hours later around 10pm.

Where is the fight being held?

The Gallen-Lussick fight and undercard will take place at the Star Event Centre in Sydney, which can host around 3000 spectators.
