As far as press conferences go, this was a dominant 10-8 round for NRL great Paul Gallen.

The former NSW State of Origin captain spent the majority of Tuesday’s press conference jabbing away at the former Aussie heavyweight world champion and clearly got under Browne’s skin.

Speaking ahead of their April 21 heavyweight contest in Wollongong, Gallen poked fun of Browne’s legacy in Australian boxing and his physical condition less than seven weeks out from their showdown.

The fight was officially confirmed last week followed by reports Browne will walk away with a fight purse of $130,000, while Gallen’s purse is significantly higher.

Gallen also had the better of Browne in Tuesday’s press conference.

“I saw him yesterday. I didn’t know whether to give him a bra or not — he’s developing a little bit of b*tch t***,” Gallen said.

“Maybe some of the supplements over the years are starting to take effect. My missus actually saw it and said, ‘Give him a bra’.

“I said, ‘Darling, he’s probably too big for you, those b*tch t***’. So, I’m a little bit concerned about that. We’ve spoken about testing.”

Gallen also described Browne’s WBA heavyweight world title as a “reserve grade” world title.

Browne famously won the belt off Uzbekistan’s Ruslan Chagaev to become the first Australian heavyweight world champion.

Browne let Gallen know about the difference in their levels during Tuesday’s verbal sparring session.

“I don’t really like what he says most of the time in regards to me,” Browne said. “Calling me a bum and saying he’s got better things to do at the end of the year, it does sort of rub me the wrong way considering I’m the best heavyweight we’ve had in Australia.”

Browne, who’s career record of 29-2 with 25 knockouts, is a step-up in class for Gallen.

The former Cronulla premiership winner in December defeated former UFC fighter Mark Hunt to improve his record to 10-0-1.

Bad blood between Browne and Gallen has bubbled away for more than 12 months with Gallen publicly calling out Browne when negotiations for a fight last year fell apart.
