It’s taken plenty of insults, back and forth about the round length and an Instagram Live showdown but Paul Gallen and NRL forward Josh Aloiai’s fight is locked in for December 10.

No Limit Boxing promoter George Rose and Main Event’s Ben Damon finally brought Gallen and Aloiai together to bash out the final point of contention to get the fight over the line after weeks of verbal stoushing.

But the fight is now locked in for Friday December 10 and will feature eight two-minute rounds.

The round length had been the big sticking point as Aloiai wanted six two-minute rounds and Gallen three-minute rounds.

At the end of the long Instagram Live video, and after plenty of insults had been thrown and promoter Rose confirmed that Aloiai had tried to get an extra $10,000 out of the deal in order to do seven two-minute rounds, Damon asked if Gallen and Aloiai would fight eight two-minute rounds, to which Rose said if they could agree, he’d have the contracts “tonight to be signed, sealed and delivered”.

Aloiai was the first to pounce.

“Eight two-minute rounds? Let’s do it then. Paul would you like to fight eight two-minute rounds?” Aloiai said.

Gallen replied: “I’ll fight you (in) eight two-minute rounds, yeah. You’re a piece of s*** though, but I’m still saying you’re a dog. Two minute rounds, seriously, women fight two minute rounds — I’m not being sexist here but you’re a b****.”

Aloiai replied: “Just don’t come out on social media tomorrow and say ‘I’m not signing unless it’s three minute rounds.”

Gallen said: “Listen here, b****. I’ve agreed. Eight two-minute rounds. You’re a b****.”

Aloiai then left the conversation, which allowed Gallen to get a parting shot in.

“I’m not happy with it but what do I do?” Gallen said.

“I’m a prize fighter. One thing about me is that I’m upfront about what I’m here for. I’m here for the money.

“The thing that annoys me about him is that his team put up a post the other day saying ‘morals before money’ the very same day he’s hitting No Limit up, or me up for $10,000 for seven two-minute rounds.

“He’s 15-years younger than me. He’s 110 kilos, six-foot three. He’s a s**t footy player, he lasts 15 minutes at a time so he’s built for power.

“Two minutes is a whole lot different to three minutes, he’s going to be powerful, he’s going to be hard, and he’s a good fighter. Two-minute rounds is 100 per cent in his favour.

“It’s just not what boxing is supposed to be. I’m not happy about it... but I’ll get him by the end of it. He’s a scumbag, he can’t even handle this, he’s a myth.”

Aloiai was heavily criticised after he forced his way out of the Wests Tigers and wound up at the Manly Sea Eagles.

Gallen said the falling out between the pair began two years ago when someone allegedly warned him about Aloiai, said he was told that Aloiai was “a two-faced p****” and said that the Dally M stuff up that saw Peter V’landys call Aloiai “Oshay Olay” put him on the map.

Earlier the pair debated the round length and aired all their dirty laundry.

Aloiai accused Gallen of going behind his back to try and organise a fight with Joey Leilua, accused him of “telling porkies” because of the desperation to have three minute rounds and calling Gallen a sellout because he would “talk garbage so you can sell fights”.

Gallen hit back at each point, rekindling previous talking points between the two.

In-between a vicious barrage of insults, Gallen said of Aloiai “the only thing you’ve done in your whole life is get called Oshay Olay by the freakin CEO of the game. You’re a nothing who’s done nothing.”

He also said that No Limit had been sounding out Leilua and that he had no part of it, before attacking Aloiai personally, saying “You act like a softly-spoken, Polynesian nice guy, but you’re full of s***”.

Gallen also revealed that Aloiai had called No Limit to demand an extra $10,000 for seven two-minute rounds.

“Then after that, Matt (Rose) goes ‘nah, I’ll give you $10,000 if you do eight two-minute rounds.’ You said ‘no, I want $10,000 and another 50 tickets.’ Am I lying?” Gallen said.

George Rose confirmed No Limit did approach Leilua, Gallen was adamant about the three minute rounds and that “the $10,000 thing did happen”.

It doesn’t look like we’ve heard the end of this one.
