‘Not coming’: Tszyu Vegas reunion off after Kostya cancels trip to watch son’s huge title fight

Twenty four hours after revealing a reunion with his dad was happening in Las Vegas, Tim Tszyu has announced it’s been called off.

Tim Tszyu has told his younger brother to hold off on buying the weed gummies, because their old man is no longer headed to Las Vegas.

Only 24 hours after Tszyu told Fox Sports Australia his famous father Kostya would be ringside for Sunday’s fight with Sebastian Fundora, he now says the Hall of Famer has been forced to cancel.

While Tszyu said he wasn’t yet sure of the exact reasons behind dad’s late withdrawal, there are suggestions it has something to do with difficulties travelling out of Russia.

Incredibly, Tszyu’s younger brother Nikita – who is also in camp with the WBO super welterweight champ – has not seen his father in eight years.

‘The Butcher’ said this week that he was excited to be reuniting with the old man, even though he had been tasked with keeping his famed ‘chaotic’ ringside manner under control.

Better, Nikita said he planned to keep dad calm by feeding “weed gummies” to the former world champ who himself fought five times in the world’s fight capital – most notably scoring a knockout win against American Zab Judah.

Yet while warming up for training at Split T Boxing Club here in Las Vegas on Tuesday, the champ revealed his dad had been forced to cancel.

“So he’s not coming,” Tszyu said simply, before then explaining how he had not yet been given details on why.

Which at least saves Nikita a bag of weed gummies, right?

“Exactly,” Tszyu grinned.

“Everything is back to normal.”

Now living in Russia, Kostya has only watched his superstar son fight once live, when making his professional debut at the SCG.
