‘Can’t believe it’: Lucas ‘Big Daddy’ Browne destroys Junior Fa with sickening KO
At 43, Lucas Browne showed he still has some life left in him after the former world champion stole the show with a wild first round KO.
Reports of the demise of Lucas “Big Daddy” Browne are premature as the 43-year-old made short work of New Zealand heavyweight star Junior Fa shortly before George Kambosos stepped into the ring against Devin Haney.
Fa’s last fight went the distance against former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker but Browne made minced meat of the Kiwi, knocking him down twice within two minutes.

At 43, the boxing community was starting to discount the former WBA (regular) world champion, particularly after he was dropped in the first round against Paul Gallen last year. But he showed he’s still got some fight left in him as he destroyed his 32-year-old rival.
Browne landed the early knockdown and arguably the fight should have ended there. Fa looked shaky on his legs as Browne stood in his corner and signalled for the referee to wave off the fight.
There was disbelief that the referee allowed Fa to continue.
“Extraordinary scenes, I can’t believe it,” one Main Event commentator said.
Paul Kent added: “It should have been stopped after the first knockdown.
“He was almost convulsing there on the canvas.”
Fa was allowed back to his feet but Browne was hunting the KO and landed a thumping right hand over his opponent’s ear, leaving the New Zealander in la la land.
There was plenty of conjecture over the second knockdown with some believing it was an illegal shot to the back of the head.
Plenty of experts believed Browne was a spent force when he lost to former NRL star Gallen in April 2021. However, he’s come back with wins over former Aussie heavyweight champ Faiga Opelu and now a stunning KO of Fa and he had a message for everyone who counted him out.
Browne screamed several times and shouted: “More power than ever, fitter than ever... f*** everyone.”
And he had a pointed message for Main Event commentator Barry Michael, yelling at the caller from the ring.
“Are we still too old?” Browne asked.
Michael said: “He came and had a crack at me because I thought he should retire but he proved me wrong.
“I didn’t make any public comments before this fight but I just thought it was a deadset tough ask. One thing, as I said, the last thing that goes with any boxer is his power and he’s got power.”
Boxing fans were stunned by the result.
Lucas Browne scores a heavy first rd knockdown of Junior Fa with a right hand. And then another massive shot. First-rd KO for Browne. Fa had nothing.
