Tim Tszyu is the spitting image of his legendary father Kostya and he delivered a consummate performance to defeat Dwight Ritchie by unanimous decision in their battle for the IBF Australasian super welterweight title.
Tszyu busted Ritchie wide open in the second round with a big right that split Ritchie above the left eye.
And it was thought Ritchie, the world No. 9, would have been stopped from coming back out but he was allowed to keep fighting and showed tremendous toughness to push on.
Tszyu delivered a brilliant performance and showed his class with his right hand and left hook proving to be his dominant weapons.
To his credit Ritchie kept coming and even nabbed a couple of rounds but Tszyu was simply too good.
The fight ended up being scored for Tszyu by all three judges 98-93, 98-92 and 97-93.
Tszyu praised the performance of Ritchie and said maybe one day they might fight for a world title in Australia, such was the respect he had for his opponent.
"He is the real deal and he has shown us he is ready for bigger things," Tszyu said.
"I think it was a great experience, Dwight is one hell of an opponent and kept me on my toes.
"I just remained the same, just kept fighting on, this is boxing not dancing.
"He was No. 1 in Australia for a reason so all my respect to Dwight.
"Maybe in the future we can fight for a world title in Australia one day."
When asked about fighting fellow Aussie Jeff Horn, who famously defeated Manny Pacquiao in 2017, Tszyu seemed to indicate he had loftier goals in mind and that Horn had to first fight Michael Zerafa.
"I just proved I am the best in Australia, I have cleaned up my division, time to think about overseas, there are only a few fights in Australia left for me," he said.
"He (Horn) is here, once he finishes his task then we can talk."
It appeared Horn did not think Tszyu was worth his time and called him "a boy".
"Tim Tszyu is still a boy with a man's name," Horn taunted. "He is still holding onto that Tszyu name.
"He has to build himself up a little bit more.
"Sure he is one of the best in Australia in that weight division, he is making inroads, he is doing great things for the sport but is he ready yet for that massive fight? I don't know.
"I would like to see him against some world class opposition."
Horn would now want to beat Zerafa in their fight on August 31 or he could be forced to eat those very words.
