Jake Paul beats UFC legend Anderson Silva in boxing boilover

YouTuber Jake Paul has produced the best performance of his boxing career, defeating UFC legend Anderson Silva in an epic duel.

The Problem Child is a serious problem.

The YouTuber faced his toughest test yet in the ring against Silva but went the distance against the wily 47-year-old in an impressive performance.

From the opening bell Paul was the more active fighter and scored the only knockdown of the fight, sending Silva to the canvas in the eighth and final round.

Silva landed some solid shots but started too slowly, leaving it late in each round to launch a flurry of shots on Paul.

Paul remains undefeated and improves his professional boxing record to 6-0.

He was ecstatic with the result and paid tribute to Silva, his childhood hero.

"It's a surreal moment," Paul said post-fight.

"Hard work pays off. This just goes to show anyone watching at home - kids, even if you're 45 years old, chase your dreams. It's never too late.

"I started boxing two and a half years ago as a pro and just beat one of the greatest ever because I'm obsessed with this. I go so hard every single day. Nothing can get in my way.

"He took so many hard shots through the whole fight. Dude's a real dog. He's the toughest guy in the world I swear to god. I just wanted it more. I'm a real dog and I left it all in the ring."

Paul is yet to fight a professional boxer after Tommy Fury and Hasim Rahman Jr pulled out of bouts at the last minute.

He hit back at his critics and called out UFC legend Nate Diaz as well as Canelo Alvarez, arguably the best boxer in the world at the moment.

Asked if he had a message to his doubters, Paul said: "They're going to find something to say.  'Fight a real boxer'. B**** I tried. If I were walking on water people would say I can't swim.

"There's always going to haters, there's always going to be critics. It's just part of everyday life when you're being successful. I don't worry about that s***.

"This is just the start. I want Nate Diaz, who's a b****. He tried to come into my locker room, he tried to cause some s*** and then he always leaves the f***ing arena. So Nate Diaz, stop being a b**** and fight me.

"And Canelo, you too. You guys said, 'You can't beat a striker, you can't beat a legend like Anderson Silva'. I just did it. So why can't I beat Canelo. F*** y'all."

Jake Paul and Anderson Silva are in the ring. Follow below for round-by-round updates.

Round 1: Paul far more active than Silva and lands a couple of good body shots. Silva lands a hard left hook, described by the commentator as a "sniper shot".

Round 2: Silva is upping the ante and clearly has more punching power than Paul. Both fighters active but Silva can sense a finish here.

"Seems like he doesn't respect Jake's power at all and Jake's getting a little frustrated," commentator Ariel Helwani said.

Round 3: Silva may be 47 years old but he's still got it. An entertaining and strong round from both fighters. Paul has weathered a storm from Silva but the UFC legend could finish this easily.

Round 4: Silva is bleeding from his nose but is just ahead at the halfway mark. He landed some late uppercuts on Paul, who is hanging in there but struggling to hit Silva with anything solid.

Round 5: Paul is continuing to hammer way and this fight could be very close on the scorecards if there isn't a knockout finish. Silva won that round and landed some heavy uppercuts and hooks with his right hand. Silva is throwing less punches than Paul but he's doing more damage.

Round 6: Paul and Silva rapidly exchanged blows at the end of the sixth round. This is going to be a toss up on the scorecards.

Round 7: Paul the more active fighter again but Silva closed the round with some solid shots. This one is going down to the wire.

Round 8: Silva came out firing but walked straight into a right jab from Paul and the UFC legend got knocked down. He got back to his feet but Paul should win this fight via decision.

Sylve stuns with 45-second KO

Woah, that was quick.

Ashton Sylve has defeated Braulio Rodriguez via knockout just 45 seconds into their co-main event fight.

Rodriguez came out firing and landed some decent shots but one uppercut from Sylve was all he needed to send his opponent crashing to the canvas.

Rodriguez was seeing stars and didn't survive the standing eight count and that was all she wrote.

Sylve is only 18 years old and with his eighth straight victory via knockout, the youngster has a very bright future ahead of him.

Fighter makes bold entrance

Well that's one way to make an entrance.

Ashton Sylve is taking on Braulio Rodriguez in the co-main event and walked out to the ring dressed as a Minion from the Despicable Me movies.

After taking off the Minion onesie – Sylve completed the look with blue, pink and yellow shorts and gloves.

Celeb doctor gets hammered

Social media influencer Dr Mike Varshavski has copped a hammering in his loss to former MMA star fighter Chris Avila on the Jake Paul undercard.

Varshavski, known as Dr Mike, has millions of followers online and was named People Magazine’s Sexiest Doctor Alive in 2015.

But his handsome jawline took countless blows as he somehow survived the four rounds but lost to Aliva in a demolition job.

By the end of the fight, Varshavski's face was bloodied and he was out on his feet but Avila couldn't land a finishing blow, claiming victory via unanimous decision.
