‘Hi Mum!’ fighter Elias Theodorou blows up Twitter with ultimate act of showmanship
THE ultimate act of showmanship or sheer arrogance? Probably both. Either way, it was damn cool and the social media reaction was insane.
THE ultimate act of showmanship or sheer arrogance?
Probably both.
Either way, it was pretty damn cool and the social media reaction was insane.
It all started when Mixed Martial Arts fighter Elias Theodorou channelled his inner Zoolander as he made his way out to the ring.
The Canadian, who is also a model and stuntman, entered with the most over the top of swaggers, all while sporting the Blue Steel look.
Already, the tweets started flowing in …
Can someone tell Elias Theodorou that his walk out isn't a calvin klein commercial! #TUFNationsFinale #UFC pic.twitter.com/lCohEAAZIC

Then came the moment that everyone was talking about. Or tweeting about, more to the point.
While pummelling his opponent Sheldon Wescott into the ground, Theodorou looked up to the camera, said, “Hi Mum!” and then pounded Wescott some more.
That’s when Twitter blew up.
Both “Theodorou” AND “Hi Mom” were trending.

Elias Theodorou saying hi to his mom may be one of the greatest things I've ever seen in the octogan.

Damn, Theodorou is stylin' on him. "Hi mom"

Theodorou's mom: "You never call me, son, all you do is train and fight, not a thought about dear old … wait, what did you just say?"

I think Theodorou just winked at the octagon girls and said "I'll talk to you guys later."

Fortunately for Theodorou, he was able to back up his showmanship with a second-round TKO victory in The Ultimate Fighter: Nations middleweight final in Quebec.
As the winner of The Ultimate Fighter, Theodorou earned a six-figure fight contract with the UFC.
“This is honestly the greatest moment of my life and I’m so happy to share it with all of you,” Theodorou said. “I think this proves that I can kick ass.”
