SOME would say taking a Muay Thai title fight on 10 days notice is a recipe for disaster — but not Cameron Bulley.

The 19-year-old middleweight, who will fight Stephen Legierski Saturday night in the main event at Knees of Fury 58, can’t wait for his SA homecoming.

“There will be a lot of people that know me there from fighting on KOF last year,” Bulley said. “It’ll be a real tough fight. (Stephen) likes to fight, he’s no pushover and this will be a fight to be remembered.”

Bulley, who lived in SA for three years before moving back to Perth to be with his family late last year, believes stepping up on short notice is an advantage.

“A late notice fight is good because it stops you from thinking about it for eight weeks straight,” he said.

“It’s like okay, it’s time to smash training and then get in there and do it.”

After seven fights (4W-3L) WA’s middleweight state titleholder wants to add the Australian championship to his resume.

Labelling himself as a “big knee fighter”, Bulley wants to push the pace in the five-round battle at the Dom Polski Centre.

“He (Stephen) doesn’t have holes in his game but there are some areas I think I can outwork him in,” he said.

“I’m backing my knees in the clinch.”

But Legierski — SA’s super-middleweight state titleholder — is planning on fighting smart against his taller opponent.

The 25-year-old is counting on slick hands improve his 9W-1L record.

“I know he’s a lot taller than I am,” Legierski said. “He’s got about two or three inches on me and he’s going to have a nice reach.

“I’m going to try and get on the inside and work my angles. I’m expecting kicks and a lot of them.

“It’s hard to say until I get in there and face him but I’ll make adjustments after the first round.”

Doors open at 6pm. Show starts at 7.30pm. Tix available at the door or kneesoffury.com
