Just three games in to what looked like a blockbuster second season Josh Giddey could be in for a stint on the sidelines after going down with an ankle injury in the Oklahoma City Thunder’s loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday.

Giddey, opened the new season with two double-doubles and was coming off 19 points in his previous game, sprained his ankle during the third quarter of the game and didn’t return in an unfortunate blow to the winless Thunder.

The 20-year-old, who had posted 10 points, five assists and two rebounds in his 22 minutes on court, was sent to the locker room for further evaluation and quickly ruled out as the Thunder went down 116-106.

Giddey will be considered a “day-to-day” prospect heading into Tuesday‘s game against the Clippers, the first of two games in three nights for OKC which is yet to register a win this season.

Post-match Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault said the team will wait and see until Tuesday morning to figure out the severity of the injury to the young Australian.

The Thunder was already without star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who sat out the game with a hip contusion.
