Andrew Bogut says Golden State Warriors embracing scintillating NBA winning streak

ANDREW Bogut says Golden State has embraced its remarkable tilt at history as it fast closes in on the NBA’s longest winning streak of all time.
The Steph Curry-led Warriors possess a 23-0 record to start to the NBA season, but the streak is at 27 straight regular-season wins when last season is taken into account.
They are currently tied for second on the all-time list and now have the Los Angeles Lakers on 1971-72 (33 consecutive wins) in their sights.
The Warriors’ streak has taken on a life of its own and captured the imagination of the sporting public.
Rather than treat it as a burden or a distraction, Bogut said his side has decided to celebrate the history it is making.
“It got to a point we were about 15 or 16 (in a row) and (interim head coach) Luke Walton gave a pre-game speech and he just said: ‘Hey guys, let’s start talking about it, stuff it, let’s embrace it and enjoy the journey and say we’re going to go for the record,’” Bogut told the Herald Sun.
“It has just gone from there.
“It wasn’t a goal in the pre-season to break all these records, but along the journey we’ve ticked off some goals along the way, and now we’ll see how we go.
“No one would have imagined we’d start off this way, and it is quite surreal that we’re a third of season has almost gone and we haven’t had a loss yet.”
Bogut has been in strong form of late and is coming off an impressive double-double (14 points and 10 rebounds) against Indiana.
He is in form and so is his team as it meets the dangerous Celtics in Boston Saturday morning Australian time.
The Melbourne big man said the team will turn up expecting to face another team desperate to be the one that breaks the streak.
“We’re not getting carried away with it all,” Bogut said.
“The issue with us is we’re getting everyone’s best shot, so everywhere we go on the road it is sold out, ticket prices go up and everyone comes to see us.
“Every team wants to give us their best crack, so we can’t be complacent.
“We have a confidence we can win any game, but we still need to respect our opponents otherwise we’ll get burnt.”
