Was Obama wasted? Rob Gronkowski unimpressed with deflategate joke

PRESIDENT Obama couldn’t resist making a ‘deflategate’ joke when the New England Patriots visited the White House — Rob Gronkowski was not impressed.

PRESIDENT Barack Obama is quite the comedian.

With the New England Patriots at the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl XLIX victory on Thursday, the commander-in-chief couldn’t pass up an opportunity to get in a playful dig during his time at the podium.

“I usually tell a lot of jokes at these things, but with the Pats in town, I was afraid that 11 out of 12 of them would fall flat,” Obama said.

A Deflategate joke. A groaner for sure. What did tight end Rob Gronkowski think of Obama’s attempt at humour?

“Maybe the President was wasted from his deflate joke,” Gronk told a reporter, who asked if Gronkowski himself had possibly enjoyed an adult beverage or two before the proceedings. “We’re still wondering as an organisation about that, right?”

Is that burn? An accusation? Nah, that’s just Gronk being his playful self.

By the way, he was remarkably well-behaved on Thursday. Not a dance move in sight.

“Yeah, you know, if they put some tunes on I would’ve whipped out some dance moves,” Gronk said. “But Chandler [Jones] wasn’t singing, he usually sings. Julian [Edelman] usually does the beat boxing. But they were scared so there was no dancing today, baby.”

Nor was there any removal of any clothing. Always a positive.
