Super Bowl XLIX: Seattle’s Doug Baldwin fined for obscene gesture after ‘poop’ touchdown celebration
A SEATTLE Seahawks player has been fined $11,025 for a touchdown celebration during the Super Bowl that was ruled too obscene for TV.
SEATTLE Seahawk Doug Baldwin has been fined $11,025 for making an obscene gesture after his touchdown catch during the Super Bowl.
After scoring the touchdown, Baldwin ran over to the ball which was laying on the ground and squatted over it after miming pulling down his pants.
Baldwin’s action drew a 15-yard penalty and caused the game broadcaster NBC to cut away to commercials early.
The wide receiver was unapologetic after his side’s 28-24 loss to the New England Patriots.
“I was just out there having fun playing the game of football,” Baldwin told The Daily Herald. “There’s no explanation.
“You play this game for so long, you go out there and you have fun.
“I can get criticised for it, that’s fine, everybody has their opinion, but in the moment I was just having fun. My teammates know that.
“Ultimately the only people I have to apologise to are my teammates and coaches, if that was the case, but my teammates and coaches, they know. They didn’t say anything.
“That’s not even an issue. We lost the game, there are so many other things to be concerned with than something stupid like that.”
Here’s a look at the celebration that was deemed too much for TV:
