OLYMPIC weightlifter Holly Mangold has had a crack at the NFL box jump fad, posting her video attempt on her personal Instagram account.

The 150kg athlete and sister of New York Jets centre Nick Mangold poked fun at the popular fitness craze, proving that you don’t have to have great hops to be a strong power athlete.

The box jump trend got traction among NFL fans after Houston Texans star J.J. Watt featured on the Jimmy Kimmel show in January this year with a giant leap onto a custom-made platform 150cm tall platform. The 131kg defensive end managed this explosive feat while still wearing his suit, having only changed into his trainers to perform the jump.

Watt later went on to break his own personal record, setting a 155cm box jump on the Reebok Instagram page.

New Orleans Saints cornerback P.J. Williams also showed his impressive skills, jumping nearly his own height onto a stack of three foam boxes.

Despite not quite making the grade with her jump, Mangold showed that not only is she freakishly strong, she is also pretty hilarious.
