LA Rams Super Bowl win overshadowed by wife going into labour, proposal

The LA Rams are the Super Bowl champions but after ticking that box, the wives and girlfriends made the day even crazier.

A wild 23-20 Super Bowl win has just been the start for the NFL champion LA Rams after their victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

A back-end-forth game that was decided by a Rams touchdown with less than 90 seconds left made the LA franchise the second consecutive — and second in history — team to not only play, but win a Super Bowl at their home stadium.

But as the SoFi Stadium and all of Los Angeles lost their minds for the Rams’ first Super Bowl victory in LA (the franchise previous won in 1999 as the St Louis Rams), there was plenty happening off the field as well as a partner went into labour and the match ended with one more ring than expected.

Before the game, even music superstar Drake was concerned that Rams wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr wasn’t going to be able to play to be at the birth of his first child.

Beckham and his girlfriend, Lauren Wood, are expecting any day now.

Drake had $A1.7 million worth of bets in Bitcoin on the Rams to win and win just under $3.2m.

OBJ was asked about the wagers before the match and said “Man, I’ve got to come through for him”.

Unfortunately, Beckham didn’t have a great day after scoring the first touchdown, collapsing with a knee injury in the second quarter after struggling to get to his feet and missed the rest of the game.

But it was not Beckham Jr.’s baby the Rams needed to worry about.

Fellow wide receiver Van Jefferson took four catches for 23 yards but during the game, his wife Samaria had to be stretchered out of the stadium.

The pair were expecting their second child in a matter of days but the excitement of the Super Bowl proved too much.

Later in the evening, Jefferson posted a pic of him holding his new son.

The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue tweeted that Jefferson “grabbed his daughter as she and his dad came into the field and sprinted through the locker room and is heading to the hospital right now. Samaria, his wife, is having their son and was rushed to the hospital midgame as she went into labour.”

The NFL Network’s Bridget Condon tweeted: “I’m pretty sure I just saw Van Jefferson’s wife leaving the stadium on a stretcher about to have their baby. Talk about dedication.”

The pair were high school sweethearts and are already parents to a five-year-old daughter named Bella.

It was not all as Rams safety Taylor Rapp made the best day of his life even better, proposing to his long-time girlfriend Dani Johnson.

It was a yes by the way.

The 24-year-old Rapp and Johnson have been together since before he began his college career in 2016 having dated since high school.

Rapp had seven tackles in the Super Bowl victory.

A third year player for the Rams, he enters the final year of his contract next year

He posted the video of his proposal in his Instagram Stories, captioning it “two rings”.

But he also posted a picture of his newest love on his Instagram page.
