“To average 22-yards for each punts returns is pretty incredible,” he said. “When it comes to the roster, the regular 49er averaged eight yards.
“Even on offence you can see the progress he’s making. He’s been awfully impressive. The arrow is up for Jarryd Hayne so far.
“The third preseason game — it’s normally the dress rehearsal, it’s where the coaches are looking at the back-end of the roster.
“This weekend should be a big game for Hayne in terms of how many touches he gets.
“He got three against the Cowboys, it shows the 49ers are comfortable and don't need to see too much more of him.”
Jarryd Hayne is $7 to score his first touch down when San Francisco take on Denver tomorrow (11am AEST).
The 49ers are $2.75 outsiders to beat Denver ($1.45), but all the interest is around what Hayne will do.
