Ex-NFL receiver Henry Ruggs III to spend 3-10 years in prison after crash death
A former NFL star will spend his immediate future in prison after the death of a woman in a horrific car crash back in November 2021.
Former NFL receiver Henry Ruggs III was sentenced to three-to-10 years in prison over the November 2021 DUI car crash that resulted in the death of 23-year-old Tina Tintor and her dog, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Ruggs, 24, who was released by the Raiders after the fatal accident, was initially facing more than 50 years in prison but reached a deal with prosecutors in May — agreeing to plead guilty to one felony count of DUI resulting in death and one misdemeanour count of vehicular manslaughter in exchange for a prison sentence that would not exceed three-to-10 years.

The former first-round pick read a statement aloud during his sentencing hearing on Wednesday in a Las Vegas court.
“To the parents and family of Ms. Tintor, I sincerely apologise for the pain and suffering my actions the morning of Nov. 2, 2021, have caused you, your family and those who knew Ms. Tina and Max,” Ruggs said.
“I let my family, my teammates and those who believed in me down with my actions and hurt so many.
Ruggs added there was “no excuse” for his actions.
A statement from Tintor’s family was also read inside the courtroom.
Ruggs was accused of drunkenly slamming his Corvette into the back of Tintor’s Rav-4 in Las Vegas.
In video footage of the crash, which was obtained by TMZ, Tintor’s vehicle went up in flames.
Ruggs had a blood-alcohol level of .161 at the time of the crash, Clark County Chief Deputy District Attorney Eric Bauman said, which is more than twice the state’s legal limit of .08.
Ruggs will be eligible for parole following his third year behind bars.
The Alabama product was selected with the No. 12 overall pick by the Raiders in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Ruggs had 19 starts in his two seasons with Las Vegas.
